Frequently
Asked Questions

Everything You Want
to Know About Our Leawood Office
Are payment plans available for my dental treatment?
Yes! We happily offer in-office payment options to work with every budget. Our team is here to help you get the treatment you need, and match you with the best payment option for you. Call our office at 913-491-4466 with any questions, or if you have a current balance that you’d like to enroll in a payment plan.
We also work with Care Credit and Compassionate Finance as third-party financing options to make your dental treatment even more affordable!
Does your office take my dental insurance?
At Dental Health By Herre, we believe that quality dental care should be affordable for all of our patients. For many patients, dental insurance can serve as a benefit to help pay for the cost of treatment. With that in mind, we accept and file most dental insurance plans as a courtesy to our patients! Please note that Dr. Tim is our only in-network provider for Cigna, Aetna, MetLife and Guardian PPO plans.
We are focused on providing you with the best dental treatment for you, and our dentists develop treatment plans based on your health needs rather than insurance restrictions. Even if you do have insurance coverage, we are happy to provide flexible payment plans to make dental treatment accessible for every patient in our Leawood community.
What precautions has your office taken to keep patients safe during the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) outbreak?
We consider our office to be an extension of our home, and so it is essential to our team to keep it as safe and as welcoming as possible. As a holistic focused dental office, many of the newly recommended infection control procedures have been in practice in our office for many years. This includes our specific use of personal protective equipment, air filtration systems, and dental tools to reduce aerosols in the office. Having such a health focused mindset has positioned our team to expertly handle the current infection control guidelines, and allowed us to create a space that is as healthy as possible for our team and patients.
There are additional protocols that may be new to our patients, including new health history forms related to COVID-19, recording of temperatures, and a request for patients to wear masks (non-medical) in our space. Contact us to discuss any of your concerns before your dental appointment.
How much will my dental treatment cost?
We believe in dental treatment that fits within your overall health goals. Dr. Craig Herre and Dr. Tim Herre make individualized treatment plans for every patient, and believe that dental work is a long-term investment for your health! Please reach out to our office directly if you have specific questions that you would like to discuss with our team.
Do you treat TMJ?
We are here for our patients with clicking, popping, grinding, and/or pain in their Temporo Mandibular Joint (TMJ). Dr. Craig Herre and Dr. Tim Herre are a part of an elite group of 250 dentists worldwide whom have completed a rigorous post-doctoral curriculum and earned accreditation as a practitioner of Rejuvenation dentistry. BioRejuvenation dentistry is a comprehensive approach to treating bite and jaw problems and facial pain.
After an initial comprehensive evaluation and diagnosis, our doctors develop a treatment plan for each patient. The first step in treatment usually involves seating the jaw properly in its socket so that facial and cervical muscles can relax. After the jaw is stabilized, restorative dental treatment begins. The length of BioRejuvenation dentistry treatment time varies from patient to patient but can range from 6-12 months.
Dr. Craig Herre is so passionate about helping patients find comfort and proper function of their TMJ that he helped found the Texas Center for Occlusal Studies, now known as The Stewart Center of Minimally Invasive Dentistry. This educational organization sets the standard for postgraduate dental education worldwide by teaching dentists how to diagnose and treat TMJ/myofacial pain through state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques – techniques that can impact their patients’ health in profoundly meaningful ways.
Dr. Tim Herre has grown his passion for treating TMJ patients into an airway-centered dental practice that focuses not only on helping patients get out of pain, but develop life-long health. All patients in the family can benefit from airway-centered care, especially adults diagnosed with sleep apnea, children with crowded teeth and/or delayed growth and development, and even infants that may have a tongue tie causing functional problems in feeding.
I’m looking for a holistic dentist. Is this the right dental office for my family?
Yes! Both Dr. Craig and Dr. Tim are members of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT), and believe in providing holistic, biological dental care. In our office, we use the mercury-free dentistry as well as believe in dentistry that works with your individual biology for the most successful long-term results. Dr. Tim utilizes the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique for his patients.
Can I come in for a teeth cleaning? What is the new patient process?
We are currently accepting new patients at our practice in Leawood! Whether you need a family dentist for regular teeth cleanings or a specialist to care for TMJ or airway concerns, our office would love to welcome you!
During your first visit at our office, you will meet with either Dr. Craig Herre or Dr. Tim Herre to review the new patient forms. We do require new patient forms to be completed before your initial appointment, when possible. After the initial discussion of your health goals, the doctor and his team will complete a comprehensive oral health examination and all necessary records will be taken. Then, if you are joining our practice for routine hygiene care, you will finish your appointment with a thorough teeth cleaning by your hygienist! Most new patient appointments take 1.5 to 2 hours in our office, so please let us know what your schedule can accommodate!
