Meet Dr. Craig Herre
Optimizing Leawood’s Oral Health
During the past three decades, Dr. Craig has given patients a lot to smile about. He listens, he understands and he responds to their concerns with progressive treatments that result in big health benefits, long-lasting results and, of course, beautiful smiles.
Inspired by a tradition of excellence established by his father, C. William Herre, DDS, Dr. Craig strives to optimize his patients’ oral health in ways that surpass traditional dentistry. Rather than just treating symptoms, he believes in a comprehensive, proactive approach to dental health care.
He also believes in developing long-term, personal relationships with patients. “I genuinely enjoy visiting with my patients, discussing their treatment plans and putting them at ease,” says Dr. Craig. “Believe it or not, some of our patients actually look forward to coming to the dentist!”
Dr. Craig is one of 200 dentists worldwide to earn accreditation in Bioesthetic Dentistry, a breakthrough approach to dental health that relieves chronic mouth, jaw and head pain using nature as the model. By re-forming teeth and bites, Dr. Craig engineers an optimal “dental system” where jaw joints are stable, muscles are relaxed and teeth are both functional and beautiful. By restoring harmony to the chewing system, patients feel better and look their best.
For three years, Dr Craig was rigorously trained at Orofacial Bioesthetics International. Dr. Craig has also participated in hundreds of hours of post-graduate work at The Schuster Center and the L. D. Pankey Institute.
In fact, Dr. Herre has become so passionate about helping patients find comfort and proper function that he helped found the Texas Center for Occlusal Studies. This world-class educational organization sets the standard for postgraduate dental education worldwide by teaching dentists how to diagnose and treat TMJ/myofacial pain through state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques – techniques that can impact their patients’ health in profoundly meaningful ways.
His drive and dedication to all of the dental arts includes active participation in many professional organizations, and he has held leadership positions in the Kansas Dental Association (President, 2012-2013), Fifth District Dental Society (Chairman, Peer Review Committee, 2001-2011) and is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists.
His professional memberships include the American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Academy of Oral Medicine, American Academy of Sports Dentistry, Johnson County Dental Society and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental fraternity.
Dr. Craig graduated with honors from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular Biology. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry.
A loyal KU sports fan, Dr. Craig and his wife, Joanne, have raised three children. He’s an avid golfer and enjoys gardening, reading, cross training and traveling.
